MAMAKAY X DEGERONIMO
THE BEAUTY OF TRADITION
We teamed up with Spanish textile designer Sonia de Gerónimo, the creative mind behind Degeronimo, to launch a collaboration that represents the synergy between the cultural richness and artisanal excellence of two traditions that complement each other perfectly. The ancestral knowledge of Peruvian artisans and Sonia's artistic and innovative approach to the art of embroidery result in 6 unique pieces that celebrate quality, design and traditions.
Our baby sleeping bags become blank canvases for Degerónimo, taking Galicia, his homeland, as his deepest inspiration.
REASON 01
"As herbas de San Xoán", as a protective element
The Galician tradition for the night of San Juan is to collect 7 herbs (xesta, fento, malva, fiuncho, herba de San Xoan, herbal Luisa e Romeu) and leave them to soak overnight to wash your face the next morning to ward off evil spirits.
REASON 02
"Seabeds" as an element of creation and origin of life
A design that symbolises the Galician coast, in which every detail reflects the deep connection between Galicia and the ocean, the origin and essence of its identity, and its unique marine biodiversity, where life flourishes among corals, algae and snails.
REASON 03
"The lighthouses", as a guiding element
The lighthouses of Galicia, sentinels of the Atlantic coast and guides of light in any storm. With the iconic Punta Robaleira lighthouse as the protagonist, its intense red symbolises warning and protection in dangerous waters.
