We bring to the world the art of alpaca weaving from artisan communities in the Peruvian Andes.

Mamakay is a recognition of the craftsmanship of Peru through products made by Andean communities where they manually work one of the most exquisite fibers that exist, the Baby Alpaca.

Mamakay means motherhood in Quechua, the native language of the Peruvian Andes. And each of our products tells the story of a woman who has woven it with techniques that she has learned from her mother and grandmother, and these in turn from her mothers and grandmothers. We want to support them and help them professionalize their art from a deep respect for their customs and abilities.

We believe that aesthetics and ethics can go hand in hand. That contemporary design can value traditional craft techniques, support social responsibility and be a reflection of our values.
